Okarche baseball to host district tournament

Softball heads to Garber, games begin Thursday, Sept. 21

The 2023 fall baseball and fastpitch softball brackets for the district tournaments have been released by the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association.

And the 10th-ranked Class A Okarche Warriors baseball team will host a district tournament.

The team, 19-3, begins their bid toward a state tournament berth in game one, 11 a.m. Thursday against Fargo-Gage-Fort Supply at Okarche’s home field. They will play the next game at 4 p.m. or 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

The final district game is 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23.

Other schools in the Class A district tournament are Drummond and Vici.

Okarche won the Ripley baseball tournament Saturday, Sept. 16 and they beat Oklahoma Christian Academy Monday, Sept. 18 at Oklahoma Christian University 13-1, giving up just one in-field home run.

Okarche’s field is located at 632 W. Oklahoma Ave. behind the high school. Admission for adults and students is $5.

Lady Warriors to Garber

Coach Skye Tilley’s team lost a game to Ripley 7-2 Monday, ending a five-game win streak, but the girls bounced back to beat Calumet 15-2 afterward. The Lady Warriors are 16-11 for the fall.

Tilley said she is confident in her team heading into the district tournament. The team will play in Garber. The Lady Warriors face the loser of Garber v. Laverne when they play their first game in the tournament at 12:30 p.m. Thursday.

Only three teams are in the district tournament.

So Okarche could play the final game at 4:30 p.m. or 6:30 p.m. 

Garber is located in Garfield County. The high school is at 108 E. Garber Road. .
